BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION BRAND

BRANDING · LOGO DESIGN · WEB DESIGN · co-branding

GOAL:
This brand is for an annual competition that is state wide funded by WVU Chambers College so the main goal was to use mutual colors like black and white that won't lean towards any collegiate school in the state. The tan-gold color is an accent color to be used for decorative elements. In the redesign the client and I also came up with the idea to update the previous classic lightbulb with a more modern fluorescent lightbulb to encourage students minds to spark innovative and creative business plan ideas. Lead designer on branding, implementation across social and digital channels, website redesign and email campaign. I’m currently collaborating with writers and the client to finalize web content through the information architecture framework I created along with the mockups. I’m also working on a full brand guide and adobe library to help train the social media manager for brand consistency and to ensure everything is refreshed and on the same level.

MAIN TAKEAWAYS:

  • Creating a brand that can be independent from other universities and also has the ability to grow as more competitions are added to the series.

  • Translating a brand for a competition series to digital through a new website and social media channels.

I’m currently in the process of redesigning businessplanwv.com with the in-house web developer. The current site is hard to navigate, differentiate between competitions and the pages are long with information repeated across the site.

A few main points for the redesign are:

  • Color coding the borders/lines on blogs to differentiate between competitions and both.

  • Creating a blog index for all resources, news, updates to populate feeds on the home page and main competition pages. This should also shorten the length of pages by linking out to the blog for more information.

  • Easily update features through a tagging system, something that the client will be able to do themselves after we hand off the site so they don’t have to wait for us to update it.
